SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2006--Sago Systems, Inc. today unveiled the world's first handheld passive millimeter-wave system capable of detecting metallic and non-metallic concealed weapons, explosive materials in solid and liquid form, and a wide variety of other concealed objects. Sago Systems' patented aPat(TM) imager is radiation-free and produces high-quality pictures revealing the exact location and size of the object without compromising privacy. The images are displayed before the security officer and can be remotely viewed at an off-site security command center.

"This is an excellent complementary tool for secondary screening and is the solution for avoiding contact with passengers and individuals passing through a security checkpoint," said Admiral Thomas B. Fargo, USN (Ret), Chairman of Sago Systems, Inc. "No one likes to be patted down. Our aPat(TM) handheld unit is designed to create immediate answers and reduce the time it takes to move through secondary screening."
The aPat(TM) is easy to use and requires no special training or installation. It is battery operated and it works indoors and outdoors, day and night. The aPat's full color, 800 x 480-pixel, 5" LCD clearly shows possible threats and automatically stores the images on a central server available for investigations.
"Our system is completely safe and does not use X-ray or microwave radiation," said Dr. John Lovberg, President and CEO of Sago Systems, Inc. "Its capability to detect weapons and explosive threats in solid and liquid forms has proven extremely robust, in the face of a sophisticated terrorist threat that has evolved and adapted to exploit limitations of current technology."
In addition to the aPat(TM) handheld unit, Sago Systems unveiled its ST 150 suicide bomber detection system in June at a private government conference. The stand-alone passive millimeter-wave imager is designed for outdoor perimeter and check-point security. The ST-150 is user-friendly and designed for mobility. It is lightweight and transportable, rapidly sending data to a local or remote command center. It is currently being used by federal agencies.
