Trex Enterprises is a privately-owned advanced R&D company specializing in optical imaging, RF/millimeter wave systems, navigation, and augmented vision technology for a variety of government and commercial customers.  Our R&D projects encompass the complete cycle of innovation, prototyping, and field testing.  The company has operating divisions in California, New Mexico, and Massachusetts.  The corporate headquarters is located in San Diego, California. 

We are seeking a senior computational physicist/engineer who can work with a team of scientists and engineers in developing advanced, 3D imaging systems.  Position is immediately available at our San Diego location.


SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will have experience in the mathematical simulation of optical wave propagation, atmospheric turbulence, coherent imaging, and image processing.  The candidate will support the design and development of new and unconventional techniques for advanced optical imaging systems.  A successful candidate will be able to work daily with a team of experimental scientists and hardware engineers, focused on the rapid development and testing of prototypes.  A strong work ethic and good communication skills are essential.  The work will involve interaction with government and commercial customers.
 

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of the mathematical principles of optics. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the physics, and steps involved in processing optical sensor data from various
    spacerobjects and converting it into a detailed 3D image.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure and characterize performance of imaging sensors.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and mathematical simulation and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and LabView.
  • Experience with embedded processing is a plus.  


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Optical Physics, Computational Imaging, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.  MS and BS applicants with appropriate experience will also be considered.  U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence is required.
